Pastor Dr. Marvin L. Hugley, Sr.
Pastor Dr. Marvin L. Hugley, Sr. serves as the Senior Pastor of the Mt. Calvary Missionary Baptist Church in Tucson, Arizona. He earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from DeVry University in Atlanta, Georgia. After graduating from DeVry, he worked in Corporate America as a computer programmer for six years before submitting to the call of ministry that he had been feeling for several years. Pastor Hugley began his ministerial studies at Andrews University Theological Seminary in Berrien Springs, Michigan where he earned a Master of Divinity degree. He has also earned a Doctor of Ministry degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary in Boston, Massachusetts.
Pastor Hugley was ordained in 2006. Before accepting the call to Mt. Calvary Tucson, he was a Pastor in Southern California. As an expansion of his pastoral ministry in Southern California, Pastor Hugley served as a Chaplain. He has received Clinical Pastoral Education training in both a hospital and hospice setting. He served as a military chaplain in the United States Air Force at the Los Angeles Air Force Base. As a military chaplain, Pastor Hugley has been trained in the areas of Interfaith relations, multi-culture diversity and global ministry. He served as a hospice chaplain for VITAS Healthcare. As a member of the end-of-life care team, Pastor Hugley provided spiritual care for hospice patients and their family members. He is also a certified counselor for Prepare/Enrich. As a Prepare/Enrich counselor, he provides premarital and marriage assessment, counseling, and officiating of weddings.
Pastor Hugley is married to Melinda Ann Hugley, a native of South Florida. First Lady Melinda is a Registered Nurse who has earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice from Grand Canyon University in Phoenix, Arizona. Pastor and Mrs. Hugley are childhood sweethearts who have four children – two daughters and two sons.
Pastor Hugley has a passion for preaching. He regularly attends several preaching conferences each year to continue to develop his preaching skills. God has granted him the privilege of preaching in several countries in Africa. He has also been blessed to preach in various cities throughout the United States. Although Pastor Hugley loves preaching, he loves Jesus even more; and he can’t wait to see the person he loves preaching about.
